Recent Advances in Applied Mathematics

About the Conference

The International Conference on Recent Advances in Applied Mathematics (RAAM) is an exceptional annual event that brings together researchers and academicians from India and abroad, working in various fields of Applied Mathematics. Building on the success of its predecessors held at BITS Pilani Dubai Campus in 2023 and IIT(BHU) Varanasi, India in 2024 – RAAM 2025 marks the third conference in this distinguished series. The goal of this international gathering is to foster meaningful collaboration among researchers and academicians from all centrally funded institutions in India and globally ranked Universities across the world. Participants will have the chance to share and discuss their research, explore recent advancements in diverse areas of Applied Mathematics, and collaborate with peers from across the globe. The conference will cover a broad spectrum of topics within Applied Mathematics, including Mathematical Physics, Fluid Mechanics, Scientific Computing, Control and Dynamical Systems, Mathematical Biology, among others.

About Department of Mathematics

The Department of Mathematics has been an integral part of the Sri Lankan University system since its inception in 1921 and is one of the most prestigious and well-recognized mathematics departments of the present-day university system. Until 1967 when the University of Colombo was formed, the Department of Mathematics served both the Science and the Arts Faculties. Mathematics Honours Classes were held from as early as 1922. The department has been housed in the central building of the University, the old Royal College building, since the acquisition of it in 1923.

The department conducts five undergraduate programs that lead to the BSc Honours degrees (BSc in Mathematics, BSc in Applied Mathematics, BSc in Computational Mathematics, BSc in Mathematical Finance, BSc in Finance and Insurance), two postgraduate programs that lead to the MSc degrees (MSc in Financial Mathematics, MSc in Mathematics Education) and one external program that led to the BSc in Financial Engineering.
